Another fantastic workshop complete, this time a full two day course with Fabio, who came over from Italy.
On day one we covered the basics of forging heads, and after the first half of the day Fabio started to really get his eye in and make some lovely heads ranging from long needle bodkins to a late medieval swaged M2.
Day two was focused on the arrows, and Fabio hand planed a set of three shafts using black poplar. With the shafts ready, the nocks were split, ox horn inserted and glued with fish glue and the goose feathers prepared. As the weekend came to a close, Fabio knocked out a brilliant short Type 9 head in record time, painted a verdigris compound over his arrows and bound two sets of fletchings with white silk.
